February 15, 2024

Location:
St. John's Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St, Emmaus, PA

7:00 p.m.

Please join the Emmaus Historical Society for its next program: Old Barns of Emmaus and Surrounding Areas of Lehigh County presented by Greg Huber.

Emmaus and many surrounding areas have been modernized but many barns have survived. See what your great and great-great grandparents witnessed all the time. They are still here with us. There will be a book-signing after the program: The Historic Barns of Southeastern Pennsylvania - Architecture and Preservation - Built 1750 - 1900

For disseminating his knowledge of the Dutch-American culture in America, Greg Huber, architectural historian, won the prestigious Alice Kenney Award of the New Netherlands Project. He also co-authored (second edition) the The New World Dutch Barn – the Evolution, Forms and Structure of a Disappearing Icon, where he won the Allen Noble Book Award for the best edited book of Material Culture in North America. Huber, a native of northeastern New Jersey, later became the leading student of barns in southeastern Pennsylvania. He has published nearly 350 articles. Huber has appeared on both local and regional television shows and appeared on the History Channel focusing on tobacco barns and the role of one in the capture of John Wilkes Booth.
