Sally Snyder Smith, a long-time member of the Board of Directors of New Tripoli Bank, has retired from the Board after 27 years of service.
“I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished as a Director. We’ve expanded our footprint without losing sight of our community, and I’m glad to have continued my family’s legacy,” said Smith, reflecting upon her tenure with New Tripoli Bank.
Mrs. Smith was appointed to the Board in 1998 following the retirement of her father, Carl D. Snyder, and was named Secretary/Treasurer of the Board in 2004. She was the fourth generation of the Snyder family to serve on the Bank’s Board of Directors.
“I worked with Carl Snyder for many years before Sally joined the Board. I couldn’t ask for a more intelligent, insightful person to have succeeded him,” said David R. Hunsicker, Chairman of New Tripoli Bank’s Board of Directors, “Sally helped us mold New Tripoli Bank into the strong, independent community bank that we are today.”
Sally is a graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School, Kutztown University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and Lehigh University, where she earned a master’s degree in Elementary Education. She worked for many years as an elementary teacher for Parkland School District and Northwestern Lehigh School District.
Sally has been involved in many local organizations: bookkeeper for the Pennsylvania German Society, Grundsau Lodsch Nummer Ains, and the Ebenezer UCC Cemetery Association. She was also the secretary and treasurer for the Snyder-Lehigh Farms Partnership. Sally served at Ebenezer UCC as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School Coordinator, Youth Group Leader, and Sunday School Superintendent, in addition to her membership in the Church Consistory.
Currently, Sally serves as the President of the Board of Trustees for the Lynn-Heidelberg Historical Society. She is co-owner of the Olde Homestead Golf Club with her husband Glen Smith, whom she married in 1973. Together they have three children, Jarrad, Justin, and Sarah, as well as four grandchildren, Wyatt, Norah, Reese, and Colin.
