September 17, 2025

Location:
St. John's Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St, Emmaus, PA

7:00 p.m.

The Emmaus Historical Society invites you to join them for the September program, “The Silk Mills of Emaus, their History and Heritage.” Did you know that the first silk mill in Emaus opened in 1892 and by 1900, with 23 silk mills located in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvaia was the second largest producer of silk in the world! Learn a little more about the many silk mills of Emaus and the entrepreneurs who built them and established them as one of the many industries that employed people living in Emaus and the surrounding towns in the 1890s through the 1920s. Perhaps you can even share a story or two of your ancestors who may have even worked in one of the mills!
